As an ongoing project, students in both the HSE and ESL classes at the Oak Forest Center have decided to participate in SSC's "Mats for the Homeless" project. Under the guidance and direction of Professor Millicent Collier, Service Learning Project Coordinator, the students are collecting plastic bags, turning them into "plarn" (plastic yarn), and crocheting mats for the homeless while helping the environment.
