Welcome to our newest page, which we will use while we engage in distance learning. I will post your weekly assignment on this page, and I will include additional Weebly pages on which you might find applicable worksheets, videos, and various handouts. This page will be updated every Monday morning, so please check it weekly while we are using this challenging, but hopefully beneficial, means of connecting and learning.

Math: We will be working on Scientific Notation this week. I may add lessons or we may have a review on recently discussed material, so please check this page again midweek. Please look at the math page for a link to a YouTube video that you will find most beneficial, as well as a math worksheet. Language Arts: I have not received any compare/contrast essays yet, so I will ask you to complete your essay and submit (email) by the end of the week. Look at the LA page for more information on the Compare/Contrast essay, including a powerpoint. Also on the Language Arts page, you will find a punctuation video and worksheet. For those who have difficulty finding the main idea of a passage, I have also included a ReadWorks reading assignment. For details as to how to access this site, look at last week's Social Studies and Science agenda. Social Studies and Science:Since only one student has completed last week's social studies and science readings, I will not add any additional assignments for this week.i-Pathways: Please continue to use i-Pathways. It is required that you complete at least six i-Pathways' lessons per week to remain active in our program. Reading: I have assigned a reading passage through ReadWorks.org/student. The title of the passage is "Portrait of Mr. and Mrs. Mifflin (Sarah Morris)" The student code is C4AALN. It coincides with the time period you are reading about in the Social Studies page of our ReadWorks. If you have not yet completed last week's Langston Hughes assignment (short story "Salvation," please look at the Language Arts assignment from last week. Social Studies:Please read the passage " The American Revolution" by copying and pasting the link ReadWorks.NFLJ7V. *Additional passages may be added this week. Check this site periodically. Math: We continue to work on the FOIL method as well as factoring and solving quadratic equations. I will be sending you additional worksheets on these concepts. Directions on accessing the LA page can be found in previous weeks' assignment listings. Math: I will be sending links for math Kahoot challenges and various worksheets via email. We will be working on more algebra word problems, as well as discussing probability (combination and permutation.) I would highly recommend viewing our Zoom meetings, as we frequently discuss various math concepts during these meetings.. Week 3/31/2020 to 4/5/2020 Math: Please look at the Math page on which you will find a Math Antics video pertaining to Laws of Exponents. We briefly discussed working with exponents prior to the cancellation of classes, so you may have viewed this already. If you were absent when I showed it, or if you would simply like to review the most common rules of exponents, you can access the YouTube video by clicking on the link. I have also included a homework sheet that gives you more information concerning exponent rules. This sheet also includes an answer key (don't peek). When you've completed the sheet, please scan it and send it to me at [email protected]. You can download a scanning application on your phone. I have send (via Remind) the free scanning app. that I use. Let me know if you have a problem. Language Arts: I am going to ask each of you who have not taken and passed the GED exam to watch my video (two parts) on the Compare/Contrast essay that I've included on the Language Arts page (Weebly). I am also uploading the assignment sheet, as well as sample essays using each organizational format, and a sheet that details the guidelines to use when writing an effective Compare/Contrast essay. As with the math, you can scan your essay and send it to my email address. Social Studies and Science: I am going to be using ReadWorks for our Science and Social Studies readings. These readings will serve, at least for this week, as our reading lessons as well. Each of these reading concludes with questions and a writing assignment. You will access these readings by going to www.readworks.org/student. You will then log in using your Google account, after which you will enter our class code: 3TDTSR. i-Pathways: Remember, you will be given one hour of class time as attendance for every i-Pathways lesson that you complete. I will be monitoring i-Pathways closely starting today. I realize that this is a challenging time for all of us, but I am confidant that we can make this work! Lessons for 5/5/2020 to 5/11/2020 Social Studies and Science: Because a small number of students have completed the past social studies and science reading passages posted for this class, I have reassigned them, changing each's due date. (Once completed, your answers accompanying the passages will be graded. I have just added two additional readings for those who are currently up-to-date with the others. Language Arts: We will discuss dangling/misplaced modifiers this week during one of our Zoom sessions. Math: We are learning new concepts: FOIL and solving Quadradic Equations. I have emailed each student assignments on pertaining to each. Please complete and return. I am posting videos to the math page for further instruction. You will watching two videos: Plot Structore/Short Story Elements and a reading of the short story "Salvation" by Langston Hughes. I will be sending you a Kahoot Challenge link, as I have created a 20-question quiz on the short story. You can also read the short story yourself, as a link to the text has been posted on our Weebly Language Arts page. You may want to review the text to answer the Kahoot questions. In addition, I have included a short bio. video of Langston Hughes , as well as the video adaptation of the short story. Enjoy!
